Product vision

Why LOVE begins with a story

An introduction to LOVE, our proposed story-driven AI companion, and the three actions at the centre of its design: meet, choose, return.

A character with somewhere to go

LOVE is the first product vision from SYMB10: a proposed story-driven AI companion for adults who enjoy character-led interactive fiction. The starting point is an authored character with a world, a history and reasons for acting. We want the experience to invite participation in that world, with conversations and decisions contributing to an unfolding narrative.

A useful question for us is what a person would want to discover on returning. It might be the consequence of a difficult choice, a different understanding of LOVE, or a place that has changed. That question gives the project a direction beyond producing another response.

Meet, choose, return

Our product vision is organised around three actions. Meet means encountering a distinct personality and enough of her world to become curious. Choose means having a meaningful way to participate. Return means finding that something from the earlier encounter still matters.

Imagine an unopened letter. You could return it, ask about it, or put it aside. An authored scene can establish why the decision matters without exposing every possible consequence. A later chapter might refer to the choice through a changed conversation or an object in the room. This is an illustrative design example, rather than a description of a released feature.

A small beginning with enough depth

The initial focus is one compelling companion and a coherent story arc. That gives us a practical standard for development: can a person understand who LOVE is, make a choice they care about, and recognise its consequence? A limited opening chapter can make those questions easier to examine.

The character should also retain a point of view. A motive, a disagreement or an unresolved question can create space for a story to develop. We want participation to influence what happens while preserving a recognisable character, rather than requiring LOVE to become whatever a conversation immediately demands.

An experience people can leave comfortably

An ongoing story needs an equally clear way to pause. Our intended approach gives people control over their history and avoids pressure to maintain a relationship with the character. LOVE is fictional, and the proposed experience is AI-powered entertainment. It should be presented clearly on those terms.

Our planned subscription model centres on access to the companion experience and its narrative. Pricing and availability have not been announced. The commercial aim is to make the experience worth returning to through the quality of the work itself.

What this introduction represents

LOVE remains a development vision. The artwork and examples on this site help communicate the character and intended experience; they do not establish a working connected product or a release date. These notes will explain the choices behind the project and distinguish intentions from demonstrated results as the work progresses.
